Sorry the blog has been so quiet

Tax season is here and I don't have much time to write. Linda will be adding some content here. over the next few weeks. We are only on the fourth square of the Great American Afghan. Classes are every two weeks on Tuesday nights, Wednesday mornings and Saturdays at noon. If you want to catch up come on in and either Pat or Linda will help you. We just got another order of the books in.
For those of you who don't know, Heidi is getting married March 13 at the Methodist Church in Jacksonville. This is one of the reasons the website has not been updated lately, Heidi is our webmaster. Of course it has nothing to do with the blog not being updated. There will be no Knit Night on March 13 so we can attend the wedding. For those who have not been to the store lately, Heidi sent an invitation to all the store customers and friends.

The Store is joining the Karaoke Knit Along

SWTC is hosting a KAL (Knit Along) online for the Karaoke Mitered Square Sweater. The store will join in by having our own instore version. I'm leaning towards doing mine in Mermaid and Mermaid mix to go with a Mermaid mix Black Purl Sweater that all I have to do is the finish work on. We will probably meet one Tuesday a month and every Friday afternoon. I still have to talk with the knitters. I may even do a Kids Knit version for our more advanced children knitters.

Hi Heidi's Mom

We're celebrating Christmas in July this month. This week I am holding a felted ornament class and next week we will be doing Christmas stockings. That class will be particularly good for those knitters who have been wanting to try socks but fear the Second Sock Sydrome.

The Kids Knit group had a great start off with at least nine knitters between the ages of 6 and 12. There will be another gathering next Friday, then we will move it to a couple of Tuesday nights a month since the kids will be going back to school. The kids (and some adults) are doing a service project called Knittin' for Kittens. They are using Mammut yarn to knit cat blankets to use in the kennels at a local animal shelter.

I'm also starting a spinning study on a Tuesday night the kids aren't here. I will probably offer a class on Tuesday evenings that aren't taken by other activities.

Heidi will be going back to fulltime teaching at the Jacksonville State next month so she won't be able to keep the store open on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons after this month. Elisha will also start teaching this fall (kindergarten)

We have some great new yarns in. We're up to 25 solids and 12 varigated shades of Kertzer's new yarn Northern.

We've also got the new sock yarn from Kollage called Luscious. I can't wait to make a pair of socks from it but I'm way behind on my projects and have to finish at least a few before I can start anything other than store projects.

We also just got in the Addi Lace needles and Skacel's new ArtFelt felting kits.

Heidi finished her multi-directional scarf in SWTC Karaoke. Paula taught a entrelac class and did the example scarf in HPKY's Precious. Gorgeous handpainted yarn.

One of the reasons it's been hard to blog besides the new job where I actually have to work, rather than surf the web (although I'm really loving it), is my husband's latest passion... chickens. We have about 100 now most of which we've hatched in an incubator on our dining room table. In about three months time we've gone from 17 adults (mainly Rhode Island Reds) to a number of different varieties, including Barred Rocks and Silkies. These are some of the Aracauna chicks.

Haven't Blogged for a while..Big News

There's a reason I haven't written in a while. I've been very busy. The big new is I have a new job in Gadsden. only 25 miles from the farm. So I get to be a fulltime wife again. I will be working for a truly amazing CPA firm which I could not have asked for a more perfect situation. We have been busy trying to get the house in Marietta empty and on the market. Note that I have changed the wall of wool on the right side of the page. It is now entirely made up of Cascade 220. We're up to 62 colors now
More to follow soon.
