Not sure what Visian was working on. Evelyn was tinking her Mariposa to go back and do her decreases at the beginning of the pebble stitch section. Debra was back to working on her bright blue baby blanket. How's that for alliteration? Betsy is working on the cherry garcia ring scarf, learning cables. We have a new knitter Mary who just started Saturday and after a brief messup is now going great guns on her dishcloth. Annie was there early working on the last sleeve of her white cardigan and Susan stopped by for a few minutes earlier but went home to take care of her sinus infection. We sorely missed Barbara who had to go with her DH to the hospital this morning. Send up lots of good thoughts for Walt. For those who don't know Evelyn has started a shop for her candlemaking.

We got in two magazines yesterday, KnitScene and Knit N Style. From the reaction of those yesterday they both will be popular issues.

We also got in some new yarn yesterday. Softwist, Lustra, and Sundae from Berroco. Everybody was working on projects and having a great time.
Evelyn is still working on her Mariposa. It's coming along great. Robin has frogged hers because she wants to change the needle size so she worked on her Tofutsie socks. Suzy finished her baby blanket and her seaman scarf earlier in the day (her first two projects) and started a prayer shawl. Debra is still working on her baby blanket. Jamie is crocheting a baby blanket and started on a knitted dishcloth. Vivian started a scarf. Karate Linda is most of the way through her summer shell made from Ty-Dy. Detta is very close to finishing up both of her Wick socks that she is doing two at a time on two circulars. Barbara is still working on her lace inset camisole top. It is going to look great on her when it is done. Annie is working on the sleeves to her white sweater, just a little more and she will have the whole thing done. I finished my Ty-Dy top and modeled it last night. Time to concentrate on a new project. Don't be afraid. The city of Jacksonville is busy upgrading our sidewalk which will mean no more stairs into the building when it's done. They have provided us with a ramp which actually makes it easier to get into the building at the moment. Since the sidewalk is gone we are holding a Missing Sidewalk sale. 5% off all yarn sales over $20, 10% off all yarn sales over $50 and 15% off all yarn sales over $100. This is one of the reasons the website has not been updated lately, Heidi is our webmaster. Of course it has nothing to do with the blog not being updated. There will be no Knit Night on March 13 so we can attend the wedding. This week I am holding a felted ornament class and next week we will be doing Christmas stockings. That class will be particularly good for those knitters who have been wanting to try socks but fear the Second Sock Sydrome.

The Kids Knit group had a great start off with at least nine knitters between the ages of 6 and 12. There will be another gathering next Friday, then we will move it to a couple of Tuesday nights a month since the kids will be going back to school. The kids (and some adults) are doing a service project called Knittin' for Kittens. They are using Mammut yarn to knit cat blankets to use in the kennels at a local animal shelter.

I'm also starting a spinning study on a Tuesday night the kids aren't here. I will probably offer a class on Tuesday evenings that aren't taken by other activities.

Heidi will be going back to fulltime teaching at the Jacksonville State next month so she won't be able to keep the store open on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons after this month. Elisha will also start teaching this fall (kindergarten)

We have some great new yarns in. We have about 100 now most of which we've hatched in an incubator on our dining room table. In about three months time we've gone from 17 adults (mainly Rhode Island Reds) to a number of different varieties, including Barred Rocks and Silkies. These are some of the Aracauna chicks.

Haven't Blogged for a while..Big News

There's a reason I haven't written in a while. The first picture is hand dyed sock yarn from HPKY. Next month I will be getting some hemp blend yarn in the same colorways for a purse class I am teaching at the end of the month. I am also getting a little of the wool/silk blend that takes the dyes in jewel-tones.

The second handpainted yarn is from Linda Boozer, a customer/ vendor of mine who is also an alpaca farmer. Only skill needed to make this elegant shawl is the knit stitch and a simple increase and decrease. I will be updating this blog with the April schedule and some beautiful new handpainted yarn this weekend.

By the way a reporter from the Anniston Star came by the store last Thursday night for Knit Night. Monday morning my husband and one of my customers were right there on the FRONT PAGE of the newspaper along with a great article about the store along with another picture on the second page of the story. My leg is still bothering me a lot. Especially when I'm on it for long periods. Wednesday-Thursday is the worst. I got up at 2pm today after 4 hours of sleep because I had errands to do for DH. Then I drove to Atlanta from the farm in Alabama to go to work. In the morning I will leave and go straight to the shop, which is open until 9p for Knit Night. If I'm lucky I will get an hour nap before the store opens. Despite the long hours, I still wouldn't give it up. The advertising I've been doing on the local cable company is starting to bring more people into the store and my regulars have been wonderful.

I did another intermediate knitting class, using the multi-directional scarf as a final project. I've done this scarf at least four times including once with some of my hand spun yarn

DH has finished the major knitting on his first sweater. I am doing the finishing on it. I'm going to try to get it done while he is in Florida. I will post it when it's finished. He has already started a second sweater.

This is one of the scarves he made for the store. My DH did a wonderful job remodeling the shop. It is absolutely beautiful and I feel loved every time I walk through the door.

I already have some of the nicest customers in the world. When I broke my leg in November, two of them stepped right up and took over running the shop until I was on my feet.

I put the wall of wool as the main picture on this blog because I am proud to have one of the largest selections of Cascade 220 in the Southeast.
